Das Jazz Meeting 2016 fand am Samstag den 30.04.2016 in der Stadthalle Gelnhausen statt.
Big Band meets Beatles
Für den Jazz ist das Songbook der Beatles eine reichhaltige Fundgrube und eine sichere Bank. Zahlreiche Jazz-Formationen haben sich mit den Klassikern dieser ersten „Boy Group“ mit kreativem Esprit auseinander gesetzt. Natürlich bildet hier die Big Band-Szene keine Ausnahme. Schon Count Basie urteilte großzügig: „Of course, when they ask me about rock, I tell them I think some of it is real great and I think a lot of the kids are composing some nice songs…. I do think the Beatles have done some fine things. Everybody likes ‘Something’ and ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Michelle.’ And they have lasted.” Ebenso befand der Big Band-Leader Woody Herman:„Take the Beatles. As composers, as individuals and collectively, they have proven that they have a complete understanding of the music they dig and want, and they can produce it and produce it very well,“
Die Brasstime Big Band und Hoischens Echolot möchten auf dem Jazz Meeting 2016 am 30. April 2016 in der Gelnhäuser Stadthalle den Kanon der Fab-Four-Derivate kreativ und improvisationsfreudig bereichern. Die Brasstime Big Band wird variantenreiche Interpretationen im Big Band-Gewand zu Gehör bringen, während Hoischens Echolot in der Besetzung zwei Saxophone, Posaune, Tuba und Schlagzeug neue Klangfarben ins Spiel bringen wird. Beide Formationen werden dabei auf erfrischende jazzige Art mit viel Groove sowie Rock-, Funk-, Soul- und Swing-Elementen den großen Popikonen zu Leibe rücken
